$1800 to spend. Stock 2006 v8 4x4 Limited

Hey guys! I've got $1800 to spend on my runner. Its basically stock (HIDs and spacers). I've got 285/65/18 terra grapplers on hold at a tire shop nearby for $1140 installed, but would be up for some other suggestions. Im also looking at either 885/superflex set-up with 5100s all around, but am curious would FJ springs provide the same lift and ride? Im looking for the cheapest route. Would it be worth it to spend the little extra and get the 885/superflex?

Throw out any other idea's or cool things you have and glad you bought for your runners!

Icon stage I lift kit (coil overs, rear springs, rear shocks). Then front end alignment. Under your budget and they ride awesome on the street and off road. You'll speed up for speed bumps.

Make that $2500, that leaves an extra $700 on top of the suspension/tires.

Look into ironman suspension. Metal Tech 4x4 sells their kits. Dont have any personal experience, but have read good things. Coils aren't as stiff as omes so ride quality will be better, and it's also cheaper and should keep you under budget.

Whats some decent audio upgrades under $3-400. Nothing crazy as I dont "bump" my music loud. Would a amp and headunit be good upgrades?

Do you have XREAS? If you're not sure, read the suspension FAQ sticky at the top of this section for more info. Do you off road much, or is the lift for looks?

The headunit and amp would be nice upgrades, but not for $400. That isn't gonna get you much. Do you have JBL stock?

I'm not familiar with Ironman, but OME 884 and 885 coils are pretty soft. 590 lbs if I'm not mistaken.

I just installed the 884's with the 3/4" spacer, Toytec superflex coils and the Bilstein 5100's and I'm loving it so far- on and off road. I know I probably could have done it cheaper by getting stuff from other places, but I ordered it all from Toytec and with the discount they give forum members I spent under $800.

I would just get a cheaper set of tires that are still decent for your needs. If you cheap out on your suspension setup now, you'll probably just want better later on. Unless you don't have a need for such a nice suspension and this is all for looks.

This is majority for looks. If I get serious later I will swap out for coilovers. I'd like a nice as soft as I can get ride for the street with a 3" lift. If I could find some Duratrac's I'd be all over them.

I'm running OME 885's, and IMO they are too stiff for stock weight. I like the overall ride with the 885's, but it is pretty harsh over bumps if you're at stock weight. I know several here love the ride, but I don't. Better than stock, but I don't think it's anywhere close to as smooth as my 5100's/FJ coils were.Handling is better, but ride quality over bumps is not. Ride is subjective, so it really depends on the individual.

There's not much info out there on the IronMan suspension. Here's some info I found. The OME rear coils are 45% stiffer than stock while the IronMan coils are only 20% stiffer. I'm not positive on the numbers for the front. From the numbers I've seen, the OME 885's are 2% stiffer than stock, while IronMan coils are 25% stiffer than stock. The OME number doesn't make sense to me, after comparing my OME's to stock, I don't believe that number is accurate. That's just a number I've seen posted on here, so it could very well be incorrect.

I think spacers/FJ will suit you just fine.
