184 dollar A1 Auto 4 wheel brake package - junk??

My wife’s 2007 4Runner needs brakes and I happened to find a 4 wheel complete brake kit, 4 rotors and ceramic brake pad kit from A1 Auto for 184 bucks.

This is like 300 dollars cheaper than anything I could find from any of the car part stores near me.

We put way less than 10,000 miles a year on her car.

Tight on funds at the moment.

Would this do the job for a few years??

I would give them a try. I have used their LCAs and had no problems to date.
The user comments on the link you posted were positive. I don't think 1aAuto sells junk.

You should also check your calipers if they're seized or not. Most 4th Gen 4runners experience frozen calipers, it's almost guaranteed if they're originals.

Going to be $20 dollar Chinese rotors, and $50 pads.

Nothing wrong, but the rotors are single use. Probably good for 40k miles or so by my experience.

Have you tried Napa. or rock auto?

Since you asked for honest opinions, I'm going to offer mine based on way too many years of experience. $184 dollars won't even buy you 4 decent rotors. As has already been said, they're guaranteed to be cheep Chinese "white box" junk. That said, if you only drive a few thousand miles a year and are really gentle on your brakes, they might last 25,000 miles. That by the way is about how long the cheap pads will last.

The big kicker here - that has already been mentioned - is if your calipers are also in need of replacement. Pressing the pistons back in to install the new brake pads can be the final straw for some calipers. If they lock up and you have cheap rotors, the rotors will be instant junk. If you have better quality rotors, they may actually survive.

As with most things, you get what you pay for.

Generally on here, most people prefer Centric rotors. If your calipers are original though, I'd go ahead and do the 5th gen caliper upgrade. Personal recommendation, I'd go with coated centric or power stop rotors, Napa calipers, and your preferred brake pad (my preference is Akebonos).

That said, if you are trying to keep costs down, I'd definitely go with 1AAuto. I wish I knew more about what they do in terms of part sourcing, but most of the parts I've gotten from them have been like old school Napa: not OEM, but a very solid performance/$ option. I will note that they don't tend to carry things that the aftermarket options are universally thought to be terrible, like steering pumps or racks. I also have nothing but good things to say about their customer service, which is more than I can say for Pepboys and Advance Auto.
