1981 Trekker on ebay

Very clean but they will be hard pressed to get their asking price.
I wonder what they did with the LSPV..

The red interior is freaking me out! Looks like a brothelmobile! Maybe $20 grand is what they expect you could make with it. Weird vehicle...

That thing is super dope, I may have to pick up one of those when I get my '15 Taco paid off and make it a little project. Looks like it would be a a fun ride.

Kind of optimistic with 175 HP.

Looks like it sold in a Mecum auction in 2014.

The pics are exactly the same

There was a yellow Trekker also restored by Safro a few years ago for about 30k.

It sold for as low as 14k a couple of years ago

Starting to think this might be a scam:
Auctions say 20r, for this to be correct it should have a 22r. Why spend 20k on a half as restoration- at least an 3.4 or 3rz. Plus the side windows are incorrect for an 81 trekker, they should be sliders
Why did they swap out the front spring hanger?

The seller answered a question by calling it a prerunner?

On Feb-05-16 at 05:39:26 PST, seller added the following information:
An eBayer asked:

"Can this truck be registered for the street? Does it have a clean title?"

I replied:

Thank you for your interest in the Pre-runner.

Absolutely. It has a clear title. It was registered in CA prior to our purchasing it a couple of years ago. It is a street driven truck in CA and WI. It is up to the regulations in each state as to passing any state required inspections. They differ from state to state. It has lights, turn signals, emergency flashers', brake lights, wipers, mirrors, seat belts, it looks like all of the emission equipment is in place excluding the catalytic converter(no longer required in WI). I am just trying to be up-front regarding the tire condition of the vehicle.

It went up to $24850 and the reserve wasn't met

The guy emailed me back, same truck as the Mecum auction.
The 20r means it has 175 hp:bowl:
Yep, sure thing there buddy

This has been for sale here in Wisconsin for at least a few weeks. One of the original Safro 4runner prototypes.

well if that is one of the original Safro Prototypes my 81 Trekker had a lower build date of 5/81, this one is 7/81.

Myself and another friend (has owned 3 Trekkers) did a lot of research on Trekkers and this is the first of I have heard of a NOS Trekker parts dealer "We are also the National NOS Trekker parts dealer and have many NOS Trekker parts in stock for purchase."

Cool find but with a 5 digit odometer in 81's it is hard to verify the mileage of 53K...it has a ton of rust
