I just came across a motor from a 1987 Toyota pick-up. It is a 22RE turbo. The motor needs to be rebuilt, but it comes with everything. It comes with 2 turbos, and 2 heads, all the wiring, piping, and even the stock stickers that go on the truck. I can pick it up for $250, What do you think?

is there anything wrong with the motor you have now? I personally would pass on this one and just build a regular 22re, parts are easier to get and cheaper to buy

The Motor that i already have is completely shot, and needs to be rebuilt anyways. I got some estimates, and I would be looking at about $700 to do everything on this 22RTE. It would cost me about that to do my motor also.

If you can rebuild a 22RTE for $700 go for it.

More than likely the turbo units are shot. Rebuilding one of those is ~$900. Replacing it with an upgraded turbo is ~$1200-1500.
That's just the turbo.

Are you sure the head and block are good? The cam?

The block, cam, pistons, injectors on a RTE are different than those of a RE.

Is the ECM and harness included? If not, it'll need a stand alone unit - big bucks.

It has everything, all wiring, and everything. I bought the motor and had it in at a shop the Head and Block are in awesome shape and so is everything else. The guy gave me one turbo that he just had rebuilt that he just hadnt had the time to put on his truck before he pulled the motor, the other turbo is shot and needs to be rebuilt.
So far everything is going awesome on it and it should only cost right around $700 motor included.
