1987 4 Runner Frame - what are these

Please tell me the function of these tabs on each side of the frame. This view is the tab on the driver side. There is another one on the passenger side.

They are steering stops for the idler and pitman arm.

The corner of that bastard wore a little hole in the side of my copper lower coolant pipe... had to put a slice an extra rubber shock bushing over the edge after repairing the pipe. Almost went angle grinder on the corner.
