1987 Cressida

I may be looking at selling my 1987 Toyota Cressida. I'm trying to find the right place to post it as this is kind of a unique car in this day and age. What I don't want to do is just post it in the paper or on Craigslist and hope for the best. I want to find someone who knows what this car is about.

For information purposes, at the time the Cressida was the top-of-the-line flagship sedan for Toyota. This was before the days Lexus. The Cressida, while not a true sport sedan, shared many components with the Supra.

Mine has 123,000 miles on it. It looks great, a dark burgundy with very, very little rust and generally good body integrity. Not surprisingly, it leaks a little oil - which I'm having looked at soon.

Define "very, very little rust and generally good body integrity" with pictures. A rusty wheelwell means barely $1000 while some surface rust on a subframe means $3000+. A minor oil leak is nothing at 123k - you will find a damp gasket after that many years and miles. Not sure if the 5M suffers from as many head gasket issues as the 7M, but cooling system history is always good. A Cressida buyer already knows what they want. I wouldn't expect many stoned millenials to show up looking for cheap community college transport. Take a look at BringATrailer if you think your car is comparable. If not, then I'm thinking a Supra forum. These cars are often candidates for engine swaps and boost(here's where the Supra relation comes into play), so don't be surprised if you get some inquiries from people intending to do that.

Agreed, and whether it's a MT or AT will be a big factor as well.

Guys who are on the Lexus forums (and have older models like the SC) or AE86 forums might be of pique interest.

Keep in mind if you sell it to someone in an "interest group" of sorts, it will probably be modified, raced, or driven very hard. Very few will buy to have a "luxury" vehicle.

My first "luxury" car that I bought on finance was 1985 white Cressida. I bought it in 1992.
