1987 Toyota 4-Runner (with transmission issues)

So there I was, driving to Las Vegas on the 15 at night, and my transmission went out on me. I had to have my 4-Runner towed 80 miles to The Luxor just so I could make my mom's wedding. The next day, I had it towed to a shop, and they gave me the bad news - it wasn't the clutch, it was the transmission.
Since I didn't have a way to get my 4-runner home and the repair was a spendy one, I called it a loss.
It's a shame, because I loved my 4-Runner. Everything else works except for the heater. The body is neat and there are no cracks in any of the plastic. It only has 190,000 miles, and would go forever if only the transmission was repaired.

Why not just swap in another used one? A lot easier than rebuilding yours although it probably would last longer. Not too often a 5spd craps out so I would just drop in another used one.

Lot's of donors on north east coast with frame rot! One from a PU is identical so you shouldn't have a problem locating one.

whoah. I posted it on craigslist, as is, for $1000 and someone showed up today with cash. I must have gotten 15 responses within 6 hours.
Maybe the right question would have been "how much is this truck worth?"!
