This is my first Shackle install. looked simple enough so I thought I'd give it a try.
The rear end of my truck had a really bad rear sag, I really didn't like the rear end sag so I had to do something about it. After talking to some guys at Marlin Crawler and 4wheel Parts in Fresno, they suggested I start off with a rear shackle kit and if I wanted to go more, maybe continue it with a add a leaf. Keep in mind that these shoes are only 31X10.5X15 BFG A/T
I wanted to remove the wheels but unfortunately, I didn't have the rim key so I had to improvise a little. I simply took my time and jacked the car up slowly using a wooden block on the frame because the jack simply couldn't lift the truck high enough for me to loosen the leaf springs.
Never having done this before, I had to improvise some more by using a hand jack in between the leaf spring and frame to separate and get enough space for the new shackles to get in because the wheels remained on the truck the whole time I did this.
The whole thing was done rather quickly, I was expecting maybe a 2 hour job at least, but surprisingly it was done fairly quickly in about an hour or so. This was the end result, looks much better now and the shackles gave it about a 2 - 2 1/2 inch lift for the rear. I admit I was pleased, but I think I'm going to raise it more. I've been contemplating on 33's or 35's though so if I go with 35's I'd have to lift it and get it geared anyways.
