1988 4runner wiring (headlights)

I have a 1988 4runner and my head lights would flicker and go out when i pushed on the steering wheel, now they only work when i hold the high beams on, any thoughts or ideas? ive taken the steering cover off and everything looks fine

Sounds like the light combination switch is worn.
You wouldn't be able to tell by looking at it.
