1990 Rear Window won't operate w/key in tailgate

It works fine I you use the button on the console, but nothing if you put the key in the rear door. I've replaced the switch in the tailgate, but that didn't fix it. I've had someone suggest that module in the drivers side rear quarter panel needs to be replaced. Anyone have any other ideas on what's causing this? Or perhaps some hints on how to diagnose what the problem is?

Check inside the tailgate, maybe the wires came loose and got pulled by the window going up and down and got torn in the process, that's what hapened to mine, it was an easy fix.

My back window will only go up with the key, doesn't really bother me sense the switch inside work's still.

Same thing happened to me. I just opened it up and plugged the connectors back on then cable tied it together.

Also remember that the back window is connected with the back window wiper. So if the window wiper is on you cannot roll down the back window.
