1990 T4R w/ v6. Engine is hot, hot hot!

I just bought a 1990 4Runner with the 3.0 V6 & 4-wheel drive.

I've noticed that the engine stays hot for hours & hours after turning it off. While running the dash guage says the temperature is OK. I just noticed that 2 and a half hours after I turn it off, the engine is still hot to the touch.

Is that typical with this vintage? If so, must be a heckuva lot of iron in that old block.

Mine is like that, too. Runs a normal temp when driving, but stays 'too hot to work on' for about four hours after I turn it off. It's longer than that on a really hot day. I try to make sure that I park it where I wanna work on it, the night before.
