1990 V6 to 1986 Engine Swap

Anybody know if a V6 from a 1990 4Runner will swap into a 1986?

I honestly wouldn't waste my time with the 3.0. You would be trading low power with reliablity with something that has low power and less reliabliity and is a royal PITA to maintain. A good swap would be the 5VZ V6 from Tacoma or 3rd gen 4runner.

It could be done, but it would be way more trouble than it's worth.

while the 3.0 in my '94 4R seems to be putting along just fine I am aware that it is a) gutless and b) probably not a long-mile engine. Should I come across the right deal what motors would be a good swap to stick in this truck. Overall I have enjoyed it as my "barn jeep" so wouldn't be opposed to investing a little more for a good powerplant. thanks for the info (and hope this doesn't detour the thread too much.)
