1991 4Runner 94,000 miles

Is it worth it for me to buy the vehicle. Or should I buy a new car outback

You don't say how much they're asking for it. Regardless, 94K miles is ridiculously low for a 22 yr. old vehicle. The industry average is 15K miles a year. Even at 10 thousand miles a year, it should be 220,000 miles. What kind of condition is it in? If its pristine, then it may be legit. If its not, then u gotta wonder if theres some deception going on...:suspicious:

Funny you should mention, we have both in the family (1990 4runner wt 96k and 2011 outback). They are "very" different vehicles. One nice part about the 4runner is not being concerned about where it's parked, so it's not hit. I'm not a fan of the CVT in the Subaru and the engine is noisy. Having said that, the Subaru, for the $, is a lot of car. My guess is though, after 60-70k, it will be a handful on the maintenance side.
The Toyota is simple, and at 96k, I feel it's more then ready for another 100k. The truck is solid as a rock. I can see why people like the Outback, the smaller versions appeal to me more, but it's a nice car.
You should evaluate what you'll need out of the car or truck (miles wise, avg mpg, etc...).

He's asking 3500.00 and it was only driven in the winter as per the add. This is there 2nd vehicle being stored in the garage not sure if that is totally true

That is a bargain, if the truck is rust free and maintenance is up to date. Have the truck checked over, ie head gaskets, leaky rad (oem rads are expensive), make sure everything works. Our truck only gets driven about 2-3k miles annually, so I can believe the mileage per say.
When in 4WD, these trucks are brilliant in snow. The fender wells don't like road chemicals, so check for rust.
