1991 4runner Wiring Problem?

I'm continuing to have problems with the 4runner(22re, 5spd, 4x4) rebuilt that I'm working on. To catch everyone up to speed this is where I'm at:

I have a 1991 donor body from California, the body is mint but it came with a blown motor. THe control arm in cylinder one got loose and punched a hole in the block and the oil pan. I've found a donor 22re from a 95 runner that I've swapped in after doing the timing chain and the the back end, flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing. I've hooked the engine back up and can't get the engine to run properly, I doubled check the vacuum diagram off the hood from the donor body and everything looks fine with the hoses. I looked at the electrical diagram in my chiltens and everything looks fine there as well.

In terms of what is going on, the tacometer jumps all of the place when attempting to idle. As it jumps around the check engine like flickers with it almost in sync. The engine also will not take gas, when I step on the throttle, the truck will actually go the opposite way and begin to bog out. Now this was a 95 22re being put into a 91 but I assume the swap would be fine. In addition we haven't been able to set the timing because the light jumps all over the place. I've recently towed it down the street to a small local garage but they're struggling with it as well. Any thoughts from the forum would be much appreciated. Cheers.

Jumping timing huh....Did you remember to jump the E1-t1 terminal when setting the timing? Are you sure the key that holds the balancer to the crankshaft is in right and in there? Plug wires in the right spot? Have you tried advancing the distributor a tooth? Check all vacuum hoses for leaks?

Just throwing out ideas here.
