Hello all,
I have a 1991 4Runner 4x4 3.0 v6 Automatic. Been having a problem with the transmission not down shifting when coming to a stop after driving non stop for about an half hour. Whem i hit the gas it doesnt move and i have to shift manually. I took it to the dealer and they told me my alternator and battery were weak and most likely not putting out enough volts for the computer to work correctly, so i came home put in a new alternator battery and terminals. needless to say i am still having the same problem. Could it be the computer malfunctioning and does anyone know what kind of repair this intails? cost, is it something a backyard mechanic like myself could pull-off? Would it be worth a try to get one of these through a pick and pull wrecking yard?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
