1992 4Runner needs help with power!!

Hi guys. Need some help.

Some days ago my runner started tuning off when releasing the accelerator or on idle. Some times, when releasing it really slowly it ended running at 200 RPM.

The day after, when riding at approx. 75 MPH, it suddenly lost power at the point that I couldn’t drive over 55 MPG (expressed in RPM, I couldn’t get over 2500/2.700).

Restarted the engine and everything was back to normal.

Solved the sopping problem by readjusting the idle speed but still loosing power when getting over 3000 RPM.

How can I get to know the check engine error? I know where the check engine component is but don’t know what to do.

Did someone experienced this same problem?

By the way, is there any easy mod for gaining power / speed. I’m very pleased with my ride when driving 4x4 but would really want to improve the 4x2 performance.

You need to get the codes read ethier take it to Toyota or to a major auto parts store some will read the codes for you for free.
Not sure about your neck of the woods though.Might have to go to the dealer.

As far as performance for the 3.0L other then headers and exhaust thats about it. live with it or swap. for the 3.4L.
