hey guys, new to the site here. i have a 93 4runner 22re,auto. i recently took the stereo out in attempt to run some speaker wire. when i put the stero and all panels back in place i noticed that the light behind the speedometer doesn't work, the brake lights don't work, signal lights dont work and i have to use the "shift lock override" button the shift into gear. A guy i know who is good with electrical couldn't find the issue, as we thought it was a bad ground. we also replaced fuses that looked bad, but no luck. any help would be really appreciated as i cant really drive it right now without signals/ brake lights.

If you're sure your grounds are good and you've checked *All* the fuses (there's a panel by the drivers feet, and another fuse box under the hood), you're going to have to get a voltmeter and start chasing wires. Find somewhere you don't have power, and start working back along that path to the battery until you do. Poof, there's your problem. :)

Did you have the battery hooked up during your stereo work? If so, I've got $5 on fuse trouble.

Yes i did check both fuse boxes and replaced all that looked like they needed to be, and yes i did have the battery connected while i was fiddling with the stereo haha. I will have to play around with the volt meter tomorrow to see what i can find out. thanks!

I looked at the wiring diagram and there is no fuse or ground point common to the things you mentioned.
Maybe it's time to pull the stereo out and re-check the wiring.
Maybe disconnect the stereo and see what happens.

had the stereo out today as well, im really confused by it. it seems as though the only things affected have the fuses inside the truck, and the ones that are connected to the fuses under the engine hood are fine. Although one thing i forogt to mention was that everything from the stereo seems to be wired into a remote starter/car alarm system..although neither of those things are working.

Could be that when you put things back together you left out a wire. Double-check your wires? If add-on stuff never worked, I suggest you remove them and restore stock wiring to simplify troubleshooting. Fancy stuff don't belong on classics. Leave them to the Escalades - LOL!

turns out the fuse panel is fried..somehow water was leaking into it. anyone know where i can find one online? all junk yards around me have nothing.
