1993 T4R 4X4 low range starts

My 4Runner starts up on cold mornings in low range. It will only go about 35MPH in high gear at 3500 RPMs. After the transmission warms up it will shift fine. Has anyone had this problem?

I'm guessing it's an auto trans, how do you know it's in "high" gear ? Maybe it's staying in 1st or 2nd until it warms up ?
A bad temp sensor could cause the ECT module to keep it in a lower gear maybe ?

Its the Over drive not kicking in, this is normal but there is a fix.

Not going into overdrive wouldn't limit him to 35 mph.

I think he means it is not changing gears(auto) it revs high, you could do more then 35MPH but you will rev high. untill the truck warms up.

Oh well it has been talked to death on Yotatech untill the coolent temp warms up the overdrive will not work. it should only take 5min. unless it is very cold out. This is normal
