1995 4-Runner SR-5

I now know that this is the 2nd generation 4-runner (hard lesson). Thanks to toybox and mike_d for helping me out with understanding some of the potential issues with this model (head gaskets..$$$$). Is there any other issues that I as a newbie to 4-runners should be aware of?

Also, mike_d and tobox said that originally Toyota picked up the tab on the head gasket repair. I suspect that since I am not the original owner that I wouldn't qualify right? FYI, it's not being repaired at a Toyota shop.

I would try asking this question or searching over at Yotatech.com.

From what I have read, mainly form Yotatech is headgaskets, rust on different parts underneath, no power and not much to do to fix it and gas mileage is around 14 or so. Overall the 2nd generation is a tough well built 4Ruuner.

I have a 93 and had the head gaskets fixed by Toyota at about 40K the truck has drove perfect since now at 115K. I get about 16mpg and yes it is not the most powerful engine but It has never let me down in snow,mud,high water. Once your done with this mess I am sure you will love your 4runner
