1995 4Runner A/C Replacement

I've been shopping for a 4runner for awhile now, and have found a 95 4WD 3.0 in my budget. It has one known issue, the A/C does not blow cold air. I plan on taking it to a mechanic to look over before I buy it, but do not know of any Toyota specialists in the area.

Could someone share with me a ball park $ for replacing the entire A/C system in a '95? I'm just trying to plan for worst case in my decision making.

Are there any other "gotcha's" in the 1995 3.0 I should be looking for?

Thanks

It would be BIG bucks to replace the "entire" a/c system. But I have never seen an entire system that needed to be replaced. Have the shop check it out before you make an offer so you know what you are stepping in to. It can be anything from a fuse, low on freon, a bad hose, bad compressor, evaporator, the list is endless.

have the shop check the head gasket, it is a common failure point on the 3.0 motors.

Cant help with the gotcha's on a 95 since I have an 88.

run A/C in winter

also I've always run my truck and car A/C units a few times in'a winter, it throws lubricant on seals to keep them from drying out, and it doesn't hurt to give the little air handling doors in the dash a little exercise.

Thanks

Thanks for the info. If anyone knows of a reputable Toyota specialist in the Jacksonville, FL area please pass along the contact info.
