Selling my 4runner for $8000 obo.
1996 Toyota 4runner 4wd

Brand new 285s, detroit locker, new parts all over. Was building it with the intention of it being a streetable off-road vehicle. Baja, big bear, Ocotillo, etc. Only selling it because a buddy of mine is giving me a good deal on a Bronco. Only needs some new rear links and some new Fox shocks in the rear to be bomb proof.Clean title, will come with smog check. Let me know!

Any paperwork on the "newer" engine from the previous owner and current mileage on that engine? Any accidents?

How about the radiator flush history? Any oil leaks/diff leaks?

The ad says new shock and lift spring for the rear - why would it need the Fox shocks in the rear - just for matching product front to rear (and better parts)?

Maybe a list of all the new parts all over, some interior shots, rear shot, undercarriage shots, engine bay shots, etc. would help the ad here.

I ask because I am looking for a T4R currently.

There is a lot more info in my Craigslist ad, including every new part I've installed in the year I've owned it. Let me see if I can answer some of your questions.

The previous owner provided no paperwork to me regarding the new engine, and mileage is unknown. What I can say is that it passed smog perfect, doesn't burn oil, and no coolant in the oil. There are no accidents that I know of based on the clean Carfax that I ran (which I can provide). There is a dent on the driver's side door close to the hinge that was there when I bought it. Doesn't affect the functionality of the door.

Coolant looks good, but I have no history of it. I did not change it the time I've had it, and it has zero overheating issues. No leaks whatsoever. It was leaking rear diff fluid but that was fixed with a new housing, bearings, and seals.

As far as the rear shock, it doesn't need it, but like you said I would swap it out to match the front. And for a better part.

One thing I forgot to mention is that it will be need new rear links as the bushings have play in them, causing a thud on take off. I was planning on buying the Front Range Off Road links, but now I'm selling the rig.

I'll get some better pics of it this weekend. I'm definitely flexible on the price, and if you want to come check it out let me know. Makes a great DD that can hit the trails and keep up with most stuff out there, specially with the rear locker.

Well... The Bronco I was looking at buying was sold. So, not selling my 4runner anymore. I'm kind of glad, I love my 3rd gen haha. Time to throw some more money at it.
