How long do you think the engine of a 4 cylinder with 174,342 miles will last? I am not sure about how offten the oil was changed.

There really is no way to tell w/ out a little bit of tear down for inspection. A good start would be a compression test, or better yet a leak down. Is this a vehicle you are looking at buying, or all ready purchased?

With regular maint the 2.7 3rz is pretty much bullet proof and will easily exceed 200k, 300k is certainly not unreasonable. Stop maintaining it and everything goes out the window, nobody could possibly tell you how long an under maintained motor may last. If you are sure oil changes at least were not kept up I would probably look elsewhere. If someone neglects oil changes they most likely have neglected everything else. But then again if it still runs strong at 174k I have trouble believing it wasn't maintained at some point.

When I went to check it the engine looked new I couldn't believe how clean it was but the interior was so-so. Have any of you 2.7 owners have any thing bad to say about it and have any problems with it.
P.S. how much do you think i could by it for and how many miles do you 2.7 owners have?

It's also not super on mileage, but I drive like a maniac sometimes, can't imagine it to be much better with the weight of 4wd components...
Mine has 146K mi. Runs great, no issues at all! All I do is change oil pretty much. I also only use regular gas in it, which is a plus with pricing (coming from a car that required premium)
