Hey everyone,
Ok so I have had my 4runner about 2 years. After about a year the front end started to squeak so much that I stopped driving my runner. After a little digging I was told by a shop that I needed misalignment spacers.(where the coilover attaches to the lower A-arm.) I also contacted the shock company (icon vehicle dynamics) which is an awesome company and I love their products and customer service is the best. I sent them pictures of the primary area squeaking and they said I needed misalignment spacers and a new uniball. So I pulled the trigger and went to a shop...low and behold he sent me a picture of obviously used misalignment spacers he said he took off of my truck and replaced with new ones...however a unibal was bad. so I'm very stuck. I don't know if my truck will stop squeaking but I'm not very hopeful. Another fun fact is that the bottom of the coilover (where the unibal is) is wearing down from rubbing against the lower A-arm..
A few questions I have are:
1) does anyone else have this problem of obnoxious squeaking from the lower A-arm or front end suspension in general.
2) do misalignment spacers go bad. If so what's the time frame aprox.
3) do I need to grease misalignment spacers and uniballs? (I used penetrating oil every time I drove the truck but it only worked about 5 minutes)
4) finally, is this just a common problem with almost any aftermarket suspension setup with 3rd gens and is vehicle geometry not suspension?
Hopefully this makes sense. Anyone please help I want to enjoy diving my 4runner again not dread it.
