Howdy guys, a couple months back I picked up a 97 Runner with a fairly decent frame/5 speed/rear locker/dead motor. I have been wanting a 4runner for over a year now, and was never able to find what I was looking for. I have always owned and driven cars, but my love for outdoors and adventure put the idea in my head that a 3rd gen runner would be a blast to own. I live in northern NJ, and had this shipped up from South Carolina. Most of the older trucks around me are rotted out. I finally got started on this project this weekend with my buddy, taking baby steps to learn the platform. I plan on tracking progress (or lack thereof) in this thread with pics and questions. :attention:
So far, I know I will need to/want to:
1. Replace motor/all fluids
2. Replace flywheel/rear main
2. Replace radiator
3. Replace windshield
4. Install head unit
5. Install new nuts/bolts/washers/clips etc.
6. Service rear slow leaking diff housing I recently discovered :sobbing:
Any other suggestions?!
Hopefully everything else is good to go, if I truly fall in love I may end up painting her, throwing on a small lift/diff drop/bumpers/big tires/etc. but that's not part of the plan at this time.
