1997 keeps blowing window fuse

yesterday i was driving and I couldn't get my window to go up, then i pulled over figuring i just needed to reset the car or something.
I pulled over and my starter fuse and window fuse/powerlock fuse was toast.
I pulled them out and i realized someone had put a 40 fuse in a 30 spot for the windows so i put a 30 back in and bam, windows work,
today i was driving and parked my car and realized my power locks/windows fuse was gone,
anyone dealt with this in the past?

I have NOT had that problem with my T4R, but I will add this:

The most likely cause of a blown fuse is a short. Could be a short in your wiring, could be a short in one of your window motors. When people put higher amperage fuses in place of a lower value fuse, they take the risk of burning a wire which will complicate your problems.

I did have a problem blowing either my taillight or brake light fuse when towing my boat, kept replaceing fuses with the thought that I had gotten water in the wiring harness. It turns out that by doing that instead of finding the real cause I burned up my tow wire adapter by the rear taillights. In addition it melted two wires under my fuse box in the engine compartment. I repaired the wiring, replaced the adapter and finally found the real cause which was a pinched wire on the trailer....causing it to ground out.

So in closing my long winded post, do a visual check of your power window wires in places where it could be chaffed. If all is good, you might have to unplug all your window motors in the doors and put a good fuse in and then plug in one motor at a time until you find the bad motor.

Maybe one of the guys on the board will have a quicker way to find the problem, but I couldn't leave ya hanging any longer!!

Use a bigger fuse....


...just kidding. You have a short to ground somewhere. That's the most likely cause.

yeah man, I had a short under the seat. unfortunately its a ***** to troubleshoot where unless you want to follow wires all day. I took mine to the dealer
