1997 T4R Limited Gas Tank issues

If I'm right, I should have an 18 gallon tank.

I just bought this truck and have filled it 2x's. Both times the tank filed to 10 gallons. Whats up with that?

Also my MPG is low. I got about 130 miles on the 10 gallons. I'm eagerly awaiting suggestions.

Did you run out of gas or just go by the gas gauge? You probably have an inaccurate gas gauge.

nope, I filled up again as I got close to E. Anyways both times I filled up, 10 gallons.

I found similar topics on this forum and they mentioned using different gas stations or rotating the pump handle...neither worked for me.

Also, when the pump stopped at 10 gallons, My gage never showed completely full.

nope, I filled up again as I got close to E. Anyways both times I filled up, 10 gallons.

I would check out the sending unit in the tank.

I just bought a gallon of gas for my gas can while I filled up.

Same issue again, 10 gallons was all it accepted and the guage didn't show completely full.

I am going to try to run out of gas and then use my spare gas to get me to the station.

Any other ideas what this might be, and what it might cost to fix this?

so I got 250 miles on a "full tank", but that means that the needle is a touch below "E", and I get my fuel light to come on.

I filled up the other day, and I think it was somewhere around 13 gallons. Either way, my gauge showed 3/4 full. WTF?

Today I put 5 gallons in, prior to that I was past "E" and the fuel light came on a few times and went off a few times. Here is what 5 gallons get's me:

I have a '98 and my tank when 'ran out of gas' empty can hold a little under 16 gallons. My needle, when full, is above the F and when goes below the E line when empty. I know there are a few more gallons left when the needle is at E.
