1998 2.7L blinking check engine light

I need some help. My 1998 4Runner 2.7L normally runs great. It has started to intermittently run rough and the check engine light will blink at a one second interval. I have taken it to a good mechanic. There is no code, but it will tell him the the number 4 cylinder is running lean. The injector is good, the plug and wires have been replaced. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know dude. As I understand it, if the CEL is blinking then there IS a code.

Perhaps you need a better Toyota mechanic.

Someone else please chime in but I'm pretty sure there is a code.

this happened to me an some Bosch spark plugs (bosch stands for; Cheap pieces of garbage!!)
Blinking light is an Active miss fire happening at that time, it's usually followed up by another CEL with a code, check your plugs & wires (not sure if you've got a distributor???) and replace a needed.

DON"T USE BOSCH ANYTHING SPARK PLUGS!

he's right.
if your fire/air are good, check compression.
I don't think there is a code for "cylinder 4 running lean."
Ask him for the code and reference it yourself.
P0304 would be #4 misfire.
or take it to any parts store and check it yourself.
having the 3rz makes it easier for you to move parts around to verify if the problem moves with a certain component (ie injector).
