1998 T4R, low moan front end upon slowing

Greetings,

We own a T4R 1998, automatic transmission, approximately 150K miles.

Upon slowing, under 25mph, a low moan will sound from under the car, and gives off a subtle vibration while active.

I tried to see if it was a breaking thing, but the moan/vibration starts seconds after breaking and always under 25mph. Also, there is a strong smell if you step out of the vehicle. It doesn't smell like breaks, husband thinks it smells electrical.....I'm uncertain of what it smells like, but it's strong.

I'm unsure of fluid levels in the transmission and am getting an oil change and fluid level check today.

Any preliminary thoughts?

What kind of tires are on it? M/Ts will usually howl when you slow down. As far as the smell, I can't help you but it's good you're taking it in to get checked out. GL!
