1998 Toyota 4 Runner Cup holders

Has anyone figured out how to solve the problem with the 3rd generation 4 Runners cup holders? For those of us who own 1998 and older 4 Runners, we all knowwhat a pain in the ass it is to put anything in the cupholders as it blocks all the climate controls, etc. This was changed in 1999 when the smart design people decided to put the cupholders on the floor. Can't offer you anything but sympathy. That was the MOST annoying feature of the 3rd gens. I absolutly HATED them. Worthless! And I had coffee stains all over the floor and console to prove it.

you all see a bad thing in those cup holders. well here in south texas, i see beauty in them. You see, I already know how to operate the climate control, I could do it with my hands tied behind my back, my ankles behing my ears and my head stuck in a drain pipe. Plus it usually stays on cold. Now here's the kicker, I like carrying drinks that are resealable. I'm not the 44oz big gulp kinda guy. Now, when I have my bee....i mean soda resting in those high-in-the-dash cupholders, those mighty a/c vents behind it keep my drink cold as long as I want. Read'em and weep console carriers. Old style is usually best style, at least when i comes to cup holders and 3rd gen 4runners....
