1998 TR5 4Runner - Stupid Cupholders!

Hi All!

I am brand new to the forum and wanted to ask you guys about m,y front cup holders. They were/are crap... Those little arms that swing out snapped off about 4 years ago and I've been to broke to fix them... I am fed up and need it done!

I was just wondering if I could use cup holders from another year? They look like they are MUCH sturdier than the ones that came stock.

So, would they fit?

The ones on the auction are the rear cup holders. The ones in the picture in your post are the front cup holders. I believe any year with the in-dash cup holders are interchangeable. However, the front and back are not interchangeable.
 
i just got a 99+ center console (thank you cash 4 clunkers), a 99 was at the scrapyard my dad works at and he is removing it on monday.

Might i suggest you buy the console in the link kelly posted. You can paint if it not your color, those cupholders are a great investment, my in-dash ones piss me off cause i cant adjust the heat if i have a drink in.

I hate my stock front also. The one you have pictured from a 94 looks like it would work and might not rattle like crazy like mine. Did you try fitting it in to see?

It's on eBay, so I don't have it here to try it out... I wanted to ask everyone here before I bought it.

Yeah, I think "stupid cup holders" is my motto with my friends by now... Stupid cup holders!

Has anyone attempted the linked "Cupholder Mod" with a 1999 center console in a 1996 4Runner? I have found a nice one but wanted to make sure the process would still work with my 1996 instead a 1998, like in the link.

So anyone done that with a 1996 before?

Im doin a 99 to 97 console swap tommorow night. I have a thread goin and, i already move the rear window switch to next to the steering wheel, it wasnt hard but it was tedious.
A 96 is basically the same as a 97 so you should be good following my thread.
The worst part about the swap is if you use your current ebrake you have to drill new hole to mount it at an angle, but thats it. If you buy the 99+ e-brake there is no issue and you mount it in the current spot.
The console comes out in under a minute.

doh is it compacted yet? i need back roofrack crossbar and connector to roofrack
 
How do replace a toyota 4runner front cup holder?

OK so I found a replacement Cup Holder for my 96 Toyota 4Runner that the plastic female end on the right side broke off so the mail post will not stay clipped into it now so How do I get the old 1996 Toyota 4Runner Cup Holders Out and put a new one in that I got on E-bay For $40.00
