1999 4cyl 170k miles $6900 worth it?

asking for a friend. I know nothing about any generation 4Runner other than the new ones. this does not sound like a good deal to me, or a car my friend can expect to use for a long time.

170k on a properly maintained 4Runner means that it could very well have another 100k left on it. I'd suggest he have a mechanic look at the truck and probably most importantly, get a compression check before buying. I would also check out autotrader.com to see what trucks with similar mileage are going for in your area. I suspect that this asking price is about right.

Where in Beaufort are you? I'm from St. Helena Island, went to Beaufort High School (1990 grad) and my folks live on Lady's Island. Beautiful place.

Thanks for you input. I'll let "her" know. I was stationed in beaufort from august '03 to july '07. I'm in VA now. While I was in Beaufort though I lived in garden's corner, big mistake, but I liked it. I just won't have the resale everyone else is getting down there. I dig your avatar, semper fi. How's Baghdad these days? I was there nov '04 to april '05. Well, I was overhead anyway, lol. I cruised with CAG 3 on the Harry S Truman.

Is it 4WD ? If it is and is in excellent condition, the price might not be far off. Without 4WD...it's way too high.. forget it!

Semper Fi Mac! I know a few pilots from Beaufort. Let's play the "do you know" game. Do you Brian "Big Tank" Smith? He was an 18 driver with 332 I believe. We went to EWS together in 2004. What about Kevin Mulligan? He's stationed at Beaufort but now he's here in Baghdad along with another 18 driver named Tobias. Forgot his last name.
