I am having a possible transfer case issue. There is a good bit of grinding noise coming from what sounds like the center of the vehicle between 30-50mph. There seems to be no change when put into 4wd. The truck drives great, with no pulling to either side. Also when switching gears, park to reverse, or to drive, the trans seems to "klunk". Almost as if the vehicle is idling too high and it jerks into gear. Not sure if these two issues are related or not. I am awaiting word back from my mechanic who I trust, he is putting it on a rack for me to place it in gear to pinpoint the noise.
In the event that I need to do T-case work, or a total replacement does anyone recommend how to go about a replacement? I'm not sure if there are re-mans out there or try to find a clean salvage part. Thanks for the help!
