1999 Highlander lift

So, if I have a 1999 4Runner "Highlander" edition, what coils will I need to get to give me a 2" lift? Do I just get coils that say "2inch of lift"?? Or would I need to get "3inch lift" coils?? I want to lift 2" higher than what I am now. Or would it be better to just do a 2" body lift, and not worry with the coils? I'm really just wanting "the look" more than functionality. I don't want a rough ride though. And, I'm looking to do it for as little $$ as possible. I don't mind spending a little for coils, if it will give me a better ride.
I just thought that the "Highlander" had "taller coils" to begin with. So the Highlander sits 1" higher than the other 1999 4Runners (stock)?
And also, with a 2" lift (body), would I need to do any other mods (steering, diff, shifter...)?? I want this thing to have a good ride, and to also last for another 200k miles!
Also, what size tires will fit with a 2" lift on my ride? (assuming I get 2" higher than I am now)

you can always refer to the LIFT sticky on the main page but I can answer one of your questions. You have a one inch lift because you are running 99 tall coils. Thus if you want a total of a 3 inch lift (2 more than what you are running now), you will need a lift kit that designates a 3 inch lift. Essentially, since you are replacing those coils, you are back to zero lift and will need a 3 inch kit to get where you want to be. Based on zero experience, I also wouldn't recommend a 2inch body lift just for aesthetics since you have to do alot of modifications (for example the bumper brackets). I'd simply go with coils (look into toytec and sonoran steel websites for kits).

If you're just after looks I vote body lift, or spacers.

You may have to modify the brackets for the front and rear bumpers with the body lift, but I'd think that would be easier than disassembling your front struts & reassembling them with the new coils, and the body lift itself is going to be cheaper than coils. Another bonus is not having to pay an addition ~$80 for an alignment.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking I had "99 tall coils". And to me, for the money, it sounds like a body lift would fit my bill. No alignment... sounds great. I think I saw a bumper relocate bracket for cheap somewhere.
