1999 led swap

Holy Crap. I've searched this forum and read several threads regarding led swaps.

I am now more confused than when I started. Everyone seems to have different part numbers for the same vehicles.

Does anyone, preferably someone who was done the same mod on the same vehicle, have a DEFINITIVE list of which and how many leds I need to do the entire interior of my 1999 SR5?

Summary of 1999 SR5 Highlander LED install:

Gauge Cluster: 3 #24. The bases were too big and I had to grind them down. I almost could have used #74's, but they would have been a little loose.

Gauge Cluster warnings, etc: All #74. I didn't change any, but that's what they are.

Key Ring: #74

Rear Window, ECT and Defrost: 2 Type A Neo-wedge SMT LED's. Had to grind these a little as well to make them fit. See pics above.

HVAC: 2 #74

Cig Lighter: I used a single LED out of a type-a neowedge. It must be soldered onto the pins that click into the plastic base. Any LED that is designed for car use will work....a generic LED will need a resistor. Pics in previous post.

Ash Tray: 1 #74

Glove Box: 1 #74

Shifter PRND2L: 1 #74. There is still a green film on the plastic selector. Since I did white, it's pretty obvious. Any other color LED's probably wouldn't matter as much.

Seems to not be. Depending on the manufacturer of the bulb, I think some 24's fit perfect.

The ones I used had those fiber bases...and they were simply too wide. I just ground a little off each side and they slipped right in. Personally...I'd rather have them too big, and trim them to fit perfect...then have them be too loose with no way of making them fit tight.

Also, I know you didn't change yours, but do you recall how many 74's are in the warning lights?

I'm going to replace mine with red led's.

Each one has it's own, that is a TON of lights to replace (15-20 or something just for those lights alone). Not gonna be a cheap shopping cart. Might me a bit of overkill with the red, but if it makes you happy..

Yeah, that's a lot of lights that NEVER come on to be replacing....lol. And if I was you, I'd order 20.

The smallest 74's fit the toyota plugs.

I'd go with the cheap $2.50 single forward LED style for the warning bulbs.

OR! if you want red light everywhere, just spend a dinky $0.29 cents on their red silicone bulb caps. Very bottom of the page.

Peel all the green caps off, replace with red. Cheap and easy, and you keep using the OEM bulbs.
