1999 locks by itself

Never happened before. I got out of the vehicle, took the key out and left the fob and key on the console like I always do. I don't care for the buzzing if I leave the key in and theft is not an issue. So today, the vehicle locked itself with the key inside. Luckily I had a spare key. I put a knew battery in the fob, and it works fine. Locks and unlocks. Rear window button works. Panic button works. If I walk away, all doors lock after about 10 seconds. Is my 4Runner possessed by a demon?

Do you have your owners manual? You can program that out. I do not have mine handy or i would tell you how.

Nothing in the manual that addressed this issue. The good news is that it stopped doing it today. It is not a chipped key because I've had spares made and they work. The only other thing I can think of is a couple of days ago the wife and I went shopping. We got out and I locked it. I heard the locks engage but when we got back to the car, she had left her door not closed completely and there was a buzzing noise coming from under the dash, a noise I've never heard before. It went away when I started it. Perhaps that scrambled it's little brain, I don't know, but it seems to be back to normal for now.
