I have a 99 4Runner with 90k on the clock. I have been having problems with what seems to me to be low idle (500-600 rpms) for a while now. I just got the truck back from the shop for it tune up and the problem is still there, the mechanic says that is the correct idle.
Well today when I went to park and the engine started bucking, dropping down in the 300RPMS and the jumping back up to 550. This happened 4-5 times. With one of the times the truck bucking 2 or 3 times in a row and then just cutting off. I then had to put the truck back in park and restart it.
So my first question is, can the idle speed be adjusted on a 99 with the large V6 (can't remember the engine letters) and if so how?
Also what could be causing this? I am not getting a check engine light. Would cleaning the MAF out help??
Thanks,
Mike
