1999 sport edition?

So im still hunting for a nice 4runner.

I found a 99 sport edition that I am interested in. I am a bit nervous about it due to it having 200,000 miles but it was owned for the last 3 years by a mechanics daughter.

Im wondering what the difference on the sport model is and what you guys would value it at. It is very clean, 4wd, locker, new tires, no rust at all, roof rack, auto ect. Should the 200,000 miles worry me? I think I could get it for around $4500 so....

If the car checks out - clean history and no problems $4500 is a good price. I wouldn't be concerned with the high mileage either,

Being owned by a mechanics daughter holds zero value to me. Ever seen a dietitians fat daughter?

Do you have any pictures? Is it a V6? Does this "mechanic" have any proof of maintenance?

I don't think it's a sport edition.. prob the highlander edition. I don't think the sports were offered on the 3rd gens till 2001. I could be wrong though.

With that said, 4500 is a good price. It's high mileage but the 5vzfe motor is a very strong motor and can prob last another 100k if you take care of it.

here is a link to the ad. the girl is sending me detailed pics of everything tomorrow. so the engine can go a long time more but what about everything else on the truck? She said they have all the reciepts ect for the work they have done in the past 3 years they have owned it.

In 1999 it was called the "Sport Package": P265/70R 16 tires, 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, fender flares, 13-inch brakes, , sport seats, four-way adjustable headrests, leather covered steering wheel, hood scoop, fog lamps, color-keyed bumpers and grille. 4.100 diff gearing, or 4.300 if you got the e-locker. If you had an SR-5 with that package in the U.S., Toyota called it a Highlander, at least on the window sticker. They weren't badged Highlander or Sport though.

Looks like a good geal, and yes it is called a Sport edition after 99, it denotes the same dame options that "highlander" has so we dont need to get into an arguement for something so meaningless.

Toyota needed the Highlander name in '01 for the smaller SUV and it was only a window sticker thing for two years then it was called a sport pkg then finally Toyota properly badged the '02s with the Sport Edition moniker and silver trim on the dash.

As far as your concern on mileage. The 3.4 has been known to go 350-400k miles with proper maintenance. Now for the chasis and other components the same can e said as there are a few members on here that have close to 300k and a few over 350k(DownPour) I have 230k on my truck and feel if I keep up maintenance I should get another 100k out of it pretty easily.

I have pretty much the identical 4R to this. I bought mine with 190K miles on it, all the maintenance records, no rust, never been hit. It's straight as an arrow. Few minor scratches and only 1 door ding on the whole truck. All the panels still have the Toyota VIN decals on them, it's a nice solid truck.

This one you're looking at sounds to be every bit as nice as mine. I wouldn't worry too much about the miles but you can definitely use it as a bargaining chip. There just aren't that many buyers out there for a 200K mile "gas gussler" these days. (We here all know differently) but you can use all that to your adavantage when negotiating.
