1999 Suspension Question re: springs

Hi all
I have a 1999 limited, with multi mode and rear locker.

After driving around Winnipeg roads (Google Winnipeg roads..seriously..) for 17 years, her suspension is getting tired.

I won't be putting aftermarket lift components or even an SS with Toyota parts.. I was planning on just replacing my suspension with the plain OEM suspension parts for the 99. 99's came with tallest ride height of 3rd gens from factory.....which leads me to posing the following question to venerable forum members:

On the site, someone has posted part #'s for the 99 'highlander' edition of our trucks....was there any difference between my 99 limited and the 99 highlander edition spring height?? If so, could I simply swap all my suspension parts for factory OEM's, excluding springs (use 99 highlanders), and achieve a mild lift?

I just use it for commuting, and hectic winter driving. We just 40cm over night, this is typical here...

You need to find the 99 tall springs yes, they will net you roughly 1" lift. Everything else is the same, but you should swap out shocks too if yours are original.
There's a particular color paint code on the tall 99 springs. Make sure you get the right ones, not all 99 are that tall

Check the for sale posts, I'm sure someone had a set for a 99 that they were selling

I have the exact same model/year with nearly 200k coming up and have no sag yet - especially in the rear where it is most noticeable. Are you sure it's not just shocks? Check your ride height compared to new height specs before you get into that job!

Are you sure it's not just shocks? Check your ride height compared to new height specs before you get into that job!

My rears are sagging . I'm planning to swap shocks and springs and some chassis components as well. Either way good reco and will definitely compare to new height.



By the way, can anyone confirm or know where I can find the tokico part numbers for our trucks? Might be better to buy elsewhere than Toyota sites.

It's too bad there are no people selling OEM kits. Like you can find OEM engine rebuild kits, OEM timing belt Kits etc, but no OEM suspension kits. F!,,

Just saw another poster with a 99 limited has put his vin in a parts search and the same spring part numbers showed up for the 99 highlanders. I wonder if I already have the tallest spring. Can anyone verify that has actually done this swap or owns a highlander edition?

Will call dealer with my vin and request part numbers for my springs. I'll report here for anyone else wondering. I just called now without vin and when I asked for 99limited parts guy at dealer said there are 5 options for coil spring per side.

Will post finding later.

Many thanks to Steve at Sonoran steel for confirming that all 1999 4wd, 16inch wheel, and 3.4v6 had same coils. Highlander and limited no different.

Add an Air Helper spring to the rear. My 99 has 370k miles on stock springs, and with 5lbs in the air bladders, the back end is buttery smooth. If I tow my motorcycles, I just pump up to 15 lbs and I never feel the trailer behind me.

For the front, you are going to need new shocks anyway, use a pair of OEM Tundra struts with 4Runner springs. It's a bit stiffer, but the truck handles much better on the highway and in windy conditions.

Thanks man. I'll keep that in mind since, after posting and mulling, I decided I'd go for a lift and I'm looking for an SC'd one at the wrecked to pull off.
