I know this has been talked about on a few other threads but I don't want to buy a new motor if there is something else that may be causing the problem. I have checked the center console switch, the relays are clicking as they should be and I have about 12.xx volts at the motor. There is nothing else if I'm getting voltage at the motor right?

I'm pretty sure I've got a spare motor that I know works, but it might be rusted to the mounts. PM me if you interested in it.

There's two or three on ebay right now. Search under ebay motors, 4Runner, 1984 to 1989.

And in some cases the wires or coals (isn't that the english word for this stuff, the square looking pieces that "touch" the rotor) are apart or just worn...

Coals, now thats an interesting term, but it works. I know what you mean. We call them brushes (because they brush against the commutator) and they are made of powdered and pressed carbon. Yeah I agree this isn't rocket science and I would much rather keep the original motor. Ulfr hows the fishing up there. Ever catch one of those "barn door" halibuts?

Not joking really, I like to go out in the party boats here and fish the ocean and have caught some large Caifornia halibut. But the skippers always say the big ones are way far north. I guess I'm not really sure where Iceland is and I sort of assumed that most people like to fish. Happy new year!
I took out the old window motor and took it apart I greased everything up and cleaned the metal blocks that contact the center rotating piece put it back together and all I got was a *pop* then nothing. I took it to a local parts yard to compare and got one out of a late '80's celica for only $18 and $4 for a 60 day warranty, works great now! Thanks to everyone for all the help! On a side note is lithium based multipurpose grese ok to use on the regulator where it slides in the tracks? Thank you all again!
