1st Gen heaters

I pulled everything out of the truck and put down insulation from EZ cool (floor, bed sides, everything). It helps and for a plus it hushed the exhaust noise in the cab too.

When I had my Samurai the factory heater was pathetic at best, so i replaced it with a mojave heater. They make them mainly for Jeeps. An aftermarket model is not easy on the eyes, but you can nearly cook on them. You can check summit racing or mohave heaters if they are still around.

lots of after market heaters the problem is were to put them.
its easy spencer just some heater hose and 12v power and a control switch for fan speed.
you could put one in the side panel opposite the fuel fill and run the lines down under the frame rail, youll have to cut the side panel to fit but i may help with extra heat.

as for upgrading the OEM heater you will have several problems fitting anything new into the old dash area not to mention piping the new heating unit.

Ok folks when Toyota make the pick up into the 4runner they didn't upgrade heater as most of you know in the 2ed Gen they added the heater in the center console.

What do you mean ?, 1st gens have a heater in the center console.

All you have to do is Search and you'll find pics like this

I snagged a center console from a '90 4Runner to put in my '88. Sorry, I haven't installed it yet, so no pics.
