1st Gen. Original Color Options

It's suposed to be sunny, clear and 70 degrees all week in Charleston so I decided to pull the top off. Of note, the original owner said the top had never come off and this is my first chance to get it off.

Anyway, to my surprise under the top I found the original paint, a metalic, gun metal gray/silver. So was this a factory color and if so would it have come with the original stripe graphics? And what color would the graphics have been? I ask b/c it's got a cheapo red paint job now and I want to get it back to original showroom condition eventually.

That is one of the most often found colors on a 1st gen is that gray metallic color. As for strip graphics they would be silver with a red cross strip at the top of the graphic. The graphics were an option not all came with the option or got the factory sceem some had port or dealer applied strip kits like mine did. Check my avatar for the strip graphic kit mine came with in 1988

Just check the color code on the VIN plate.
Graphics changes almost every year, and were typically on the SR5 trim package.
