1st gen shocks

I recently put bj spacers on the front of my 87 4rn and I am going to run 63's on the rear. Are bilsteins worth the extra $ for the rear? What is the best shock for the ifs front with the bj spacer? Any other thoughts or advice would be great. I dd it and plan on doing quite a bit if trail riding and camping.

Very happy with my OME shocks. I have 2" ball joint spacers and 35" tires.

Those KM2s are going to rub the rear of your front fender.

I like my OME Nitrochargers too. I've never had Billys though, I don't know how they compare.

I havent had trouble with them rubbing at all. It is very close but doesnt touch. I have the tbars relaxed now with the bj spacers. Are you running ome shocks in the rear as well?

Have you had them at full stuff yet? Bumpstops touching? If so, I'm going to start thinking there was something wrong with my last truck because I had to do a bit of trimming and pounding to stuff 33" KM2s with ball joint spacers.

The suspension on my '85 is 100% OME, springs and shocks. Same with my '99, and I love the way both of them ride off road. They're a little truck-like on pavement.

There ya go. IFS at full stuff with OME shocks and 2" ball joint spacers. With 33x12.5" tires they never rubbed, but they do with 35" on occasion.

Depends on how you're going to use your T4R. Personally I prefer a firm shock. Especially when off-roading. A firmer shock will be less likely to bottom out, but will give you a more harsh ride on pavement.

A softer will give more on pavement, but will feel 'squishy' off-road.

It all comes down to how you roll.

I have the OME N98 Front Nitrocharger shocks. Not sure if you would call them saft or firm.

bilsteins are always worth the money, they are somewhere around 80-90 a shock.

I like firmer too. Road shocks tend to make the truck feel all quivery and sloshy off road, like driving a bowl of Jello. Firmer shocks settle it down and give you much better control. But it depends on how you're using the truck too - if you've got a pavement queen that only sees dirt a couple times a year, go with a softer set of shocks and enjoy the plush ride.

I've got the N98's on the front of mine, and the ride is superb.

I've got the 63's and bilsteins on the rear also. It rides better than my Tundra and my wifes Camry.
