I have a '88 and I am looking for soft tops. The only company still around that I have found is Can-Back. Does anyone know of any other ones? It would be very helpful. Thanks.

I have owned a kayline and it was OK. You have to drill a bunch of holes in the body to mount it and the side panels dont stay rolled up at freeway speeds. Canback was sold to another company and they were still making tops the last time I checked. That is the one I would go with. Just my .02

There is one for sale on yotatech for $600.

I don't know much more about it, but its in the classifieds.

Also, there was a guy over there that was designing one, but I don't know if it ever made it to production.

I have a kayline, and I like it, but then again, I haven't had any experience with the other ones out there.

I know people with the Kayline and the Can-Back.
Kayline runs around $600 new while C-B is around $1200.
C-B is nicer than the Kayline.

I have seen a top that is just a short piece of canvas with no sides that goes from the back of the cab to the rollbar just for a sunscreen for the back seat. Does anyone know where to find something like that?

Last i saw online is that Kayline is out of business and Can Back is the only one left. Also to I need to check but there is a place that shows how to make your own bikini top.

Actually Kayline was bought by STM a few years ago and is still around AFAIK, and CanBack was out of business and tring to re-organize and get back into business..

new soft top

I make new 4runner soft tops! As far as I know, all of the other manufacturers are no longer doing anything for our trucks. I spoke to the guys at Bestop at the SEMA show in Vegas recently and they told me that they have absolutely no plans of reviving the Canback or any other of the many designs that they have bought out recently. They basically bought everybody out and put their designs together to make a soft canopy shell for pickups. Kind of a slap in the face to us loyal 4runner guys if you ask me!

I wanted to build something for myself, but it turned out to be quite an expensive venture by the time I bought an industrial sewing machine and built tubing benders, etc. It also took a huge amount of time to come up with a design that worked. As a result, I decided to go for it and am now offering my tops for sale to anyone who wants one. I will also do custom work for modified trucks or special requests. Check them out at www.killertoytops.com . Any inquiries can be made at [email protected].
