I just joined here, and I absolutely love seeing all of these old first gens!! I have already owned 3 toyotas, and I loved/love every one of them.

My first truck was a 89 4runner with the 3.0/auto, loved the truck, hated the engine/trans combo. Sold it.

Second was a 90 22re, 5 speed, Loved this one, sold it on a whim for double what I paid.

Third and current. 88 SR5, 22re, 5 speed, slightly restored. I got this one last December, and I'll never sell it. Stole it for $3,500, and drove it from Houston to Baton Rouge. Been driving it since as my Daily, and weekend cruiser. It get's 20 mpg and get's complements every where I go.

My goal with it is to keep it clean, restore it to original condition, and add a few upgrades, which include (but are not limited to, lol) Lexus 1UZ swap, toyota e-locker, soft top, and factory paint.

Not much wheeling to do here. Mostly mud riding, and I have kinda grown out of that. I might take it on a trail every once and a while. I am just a big fan of these trucks.

Zukmod is not as flexy as without. You hit a point where the coil won't compress any further and it acts like a giant bumpstop.

if people actually listen and use what i used for the zuk mod, they would have plenty of flex and OEM quality parts. its also weldless and cutless mod
i used 96-98 4runner rear coil springs with OME shocks

flexes plenty good to me?

Maybe but we are not talking about droop. You said that a ZUK mod hinders compression due to spring acting as a bump stop. It still compresses as much as stock if anything the rear springs are neg arch and can be seen in last pix.

So your saying tr ZUK mod will out flex a stock ifs front? Than you can't say ZUK isn't the way to go lol

Dude. Read for comprehension. Without your long travel in front, you would have lifted the passenger REAR I said.

Like this:

Front is stock with balljoint spacers, and that passenger rear tire is three or four inches off the ground because the Zukmod on the drivers side is acting like a bump stop and won't let that side go to full stuff - just like in your picture, except your long-travel front is letting the truck pivot and keep all four wheels on the ground.

In case it's unclear, I'm absolutely telling you that a stock IFS front will outflex a Zukmod rear and I'm speaking from experience - if the rear was flexier, it'd be the drivers front in the air, or none of them.

That's pretty good droop you have. Without seeing the compressed side I can't say much plus your not using the same rear coil springs as I am. Guess you missed the part where I mention what I used.
Lucky for us I have pictures of my own when I had just bj spacers up front; zuk mod rear and its not even fully flex out. I have to see if I ca find more pictures but I have compressed the drive front tire just to the fenders and the rear tire can compress more with my old set up, similar but not same as yours.

The next time you're in a twisty spot, get one wheel off the ground and then check to see if your rear bumpstops are touching on the stuffed side. If they aren't, then you've lost flex due to the coils stuffed in there. If they are, I'll eat my hat.

I can't be because I don't have bj spacers up front anymore another thing no one ever talks about shocks. I bet most that run ZUK mod don't even have correct length shocks. I had to extend my rear brake line because of how much more droop I got with correct length shocks
