My 88'

G'day everybody, there's some very nice rigs here indeed.

This is my 88 SR5 Runner, i picked it up 6 mths ago & have only done few mods so far but the list is growing & more work will be done soon. It has a 2" lift with extended shackles, 33"BFG muds, custom sliders & some flares to cover up the rubber for now.

Soon to be bobbed about 13"(including the canopy) colour coded, & plenty of suspension work.:biggrin2:

1985 with a few upgrades:

OME suspension
ARB bull bar
Warn 8000
Kennesaw Mountain rear bumper
Bushwacker flares
BFG 31-10.50x15 MT's
DOA Racing engine
LC Engineering header, exhaust, etc. etc.
and a few more things.

My favorite runner I've seen on this site so far (besides the aussie with the diesel). Mind if I steal your color scheme when I redo mine?

Just picked up this 1985. It shows 192K on the odometer but has about 50K on the drivetrain.

The body and interior are rough but mechanically it runs like a champ. Once i get the interior sorted out we will head to paint. Aiming for a burnt orange color.

It has the EFI engine. Upgrades include a 3inch body lift, 31x10.50 tires, Landcruiser axles are 3inches wider than stock. It also has front disc brakes
from a Landcruiser that are larger and vented.

Well i posted some pics just a bit back on this page & thought i would throw up some pics with the new colour. Canopy still to be done as is the barwork, then the sus work.

Can-Back installed.

Removed some leafs, lowered one inch, one more to go. Also made a new front bumper using the TG winch mount.

I need suggestions!

Im new to the 4x4 scene as I have been driving a tacoma 2.4ltr 2wd tacoma. I just bought an 89 4runner sr5 4wd with a rod knock. Im just looking at my options right now of what to put in for the drive train. I eventually want to do an sas on it, lockers front and rear, new gears and 33" BFG mud terrains. I would like to put a 5spd mt in it but im not sure if i should get a rebuilt 3.0 v6 3.4 v6 or even downsize to the awesome 22re engine. I know the 3.4 swaps can be pricey what is the better route to take for my future upgrades? All help is much appreciated!
