1st gen turbo questions

Hello all,
I found a 1985 4runner in a junk yard that came with the turbo engine and auto tranny. It was made in Dec 1985 and does not have the solid axel in the front. I do realized that this is tecnically an 86 but it's cool that it was badged an 85. The engine and digital dash are gone but lots still remain. Is there anything I should be aware of that I could possibly use on mky 85 4runner. Thanks

The only things worthwhile from a turbo truck would be the 5 spd and t-case, and the rear 3rd member.

Since it is an auto, that just leaves the 3rd.

Turbo rear diffs are the same as a V-6, which means a stronger case and thicker ring gear.

will it be compatable with my 4:88 gears. I know these are stupid questions. Sorry Oh yeah is there any difference in the axel housing or is it just the third member

Housings are the same.

Depending on whether you have V6 or4 cyl 4.88 gear sets, they may work fine or you may need a spacer behind the ring gear.

Not much more than $50 for the third if its in great shape. Remember, there are a LOT of V-6 trucks out there so it really isnt all that "rare".

The rear housing if its off an IFS truck is 3" wider than an 85 and older rear housing. But there are no physical differences between a 4 cylinder housing vs a V-6 housing of the same year vintage.
