1st Time-Hand Washed My 4Runner Today

Finally we've been having consistent temperatures here above freezing. So I figured this would be my first day to finally hand wash my almost new 4Runner (got it in December, now has 1400 miles on it).
Since I got it 4 months ago I was taking the new 4Runner to the best "touchless" car wash in town.
I really am hesitant about commercial car wash places. I'd hate to have any kind of silicone crap or recycled water sprayed on my vehicles.
I've never taken my pristine Porsche to one, but the Porsche is only on the road up here in the summer months, when it's easy to hand wash it in my driveway.
But today, sheesh, it took me more than 2.5 hours to wash the truck! There was so much nasty grit on it's lower half, I had to change the rinse bucket four times.

But she's looking beautiful again. It was good to get the hose on full blast up into the wheel wells.

I do touchless washes at least once a week. Then I bring her home and wipe down the truck with a waterless type of wash / quick detailer type of product.

I keep my truck looking mint all the time , until..... the off roading starts.........then no holes barred let the mud fly...lol

Honestly you can mar your paint by hand washing pretty easy .

j/k its just difficult to trust any car wash, the reason i got lots of stuff for car detailing, i diy my vehicles.

There is nothing more satisfying than detailing your truck in and out. Sure it takes hours but it's really a labor of love. The end result is worth it and I bet you the lot of us stare at the end result for a while before we call it a day and close the garage door. Come on admit it.

I also have just come to accept swirl marks. One of the inevitable things in life. As long as you drive your car will always be constantly sand blasted as it moves through the air. Some colors just hide them better than others. Meh. That's what the Porter Cable and a good sealer is for.

All is good...up until it rains the next day. I swear, mother nature has something against freshly cleaned/detailed cars.

I read "Slaughter House 5" a long time back in school. All I can say is weird.

Perhaps it's weird because Vonnegut got so close to the uncomfortable truth of our existence.

congrats on the washing. I try to handwash mine once a week if the weather is cooperating. Each and every time I wash it I usually spend 2.5 hours. When I use the spray on wax it takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Admittedly, I too stand there gawk at my efforts. Its my own pat on the back for a job well done.
