I know a guy who can make you shorter? It might smart a bit at first but most people adjust eventually.
Love it. So I’m not that tall...6’. And I just measured the back because I’m thinking about a sleeping platform, or maybe storage boxes to cover the wheel wells. How do tall people sleep back there?

The rear hatch is kind of a waste, useless. Ones with a lift gate that folds down are more useful, like the first gen. The most useful are the ones that swing out in two doors, then you can easily mount your tire on one and also attach fold down tables and other stuff to the inside of the doors. The only reason we have the fold up rear door is to allow for the roll-down window inside the lower part. But they could have done that with one side of a fold out double door.

Do you drive around with your seat leaned back like it's a low rider or something?
BTW 6-2 here and I can reach the stereo just fine.

It’s leaned back a little I guess. When I reach for it, I’m about three inches shy. Maybe I have really short arms? All my fingers are an inch long...that’s normal, right?

And the 3rd gen is actually a pretty small vehicle. Try driving a full size truck or SUV.
I wish I had money to throw around like that because leaning forward is such a chore :behindsofa:
Seriously, though, it'll be like that in every vehicle, except for the really small ones. You'll have to reach for something a little bit.
On a side note, I've actually wondered why modern full size vehicle (trucks, SUVs, vans, etc) don't come with a power rear view mirror. You have to lean forward to adjust it, which obviously throws your view angle off so it's not accurate when you lean back again. A power mirror would be pretty useful.

For me, the most annoying part is driving with the window down, my arm hits the window lock when I rest it on the sill. Toyota should have put the door locks where the door handle is, like pretty much all vehicles are now.

ummm a 3rd gen is not a modern vehicle. Many vehicles of that time (or my 2000) had more options, bells and whistles, but then again most of them are being recycled pieces of metal being sent to china or have a street value of nothing. I can reach all my controls fine (5'11)and am glad I don't have two doors in the back to deal with and all the hinges, seals etc. Sleeping in the back...you ask how..do you sleep like a plank straight out. I have no issue, but then again Ive slept in 70's corolla wagons, vw squarebacks, rear seat of mustangs, bench seat of a cheby pick up, recliners in front of a tv, and out doors...ive slept in all kind of places with less room and not level. Ive got a full size air mattress, a double sleeping bag and I have no problems sleeping in my 4runner when I have to. Ive slept hours in my 4runner in the passenger seat tilted back on long trips when the back is loaded. But the majority fo the time, if I am with my 4runner, and I plan to sleep/camp, I usually have a small tent because the 4 runner is full of other outdoor gear or things that need to be critter proof

I didn't say the 3rd gen was modern, I simply referred to large modern vehicles in general, as an aside.
