I purchased a 1987 4runner, 2.4L EFI. What kind of differentials does it have? Open? Limited-Slip? Is the front different than the rear?
Also, what is the difference between SR5 and DLX?
Thanks a bunch.

Your rear differential is the toyota 4cyl 8" which was used in the rears from 79-95 I beleive. In the front you have IFS and therefore the 7.5" differential used in IFS trucks 86-95. If stock, both are open diffs. If you have a 5spd manual trans, the gear ratios are most likely 4.10, and if you have an auto the gears are probably 4.30.

The SR5 trim level is the upper level trim package. It typically included features such as chrome exterior pieces, a tach, rear heater, power windows, and other 'convenience' options. The DLX trucks were pretty basic.

What is a good locker to install in the rear? (Less than $275.)
I hope to do the install myself.
