2/1 Cornfed Lift Installed (finally)

So after it took about a month for the friggin' things to arrive, and another week and a half of waiting before I could install it, I finally finished it this weekend. Installed the front spacers yesterday with the help of someone near me, and did the rear spacers today by myself. The front was a pretty big pain in the ass. It took about 3 hours for the front drivers side, but then only about 40 minutes for the passenger side after we learned from our mistakes. I did the rear by myself in under an hour, much less complicated.

Here's a before shot, and then a shot I took in a parking lot tonight. My torque wrench broke so I had to get another one, and happened to see another 4th gen. The rest are day-time shots after the lift has been installed. Hope you like it.

It's really bright today, so that's why all of the shots are at angles. Hope they look OK though. I got it aligned today at Sears for $69.99, and paid $12.99 for the spring compressor. If I had paid for it to be installed, it would have been about $300-$350 +$85 if I had the place align it for me.

Next is my HID kit, which should be here in the next few days because I ordered it last Sunday. Then after that, i'm going to put some 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on and get rid of these Dunflops.

Hey Josh. This is something i've been toying with for awhile, as I'm sure a lot of members here have too. Where do you rate your technical know-how, and how hard did you feel this was? Is this a job that you recommend one do themselves(assuming they are reasonably intelligent)?

Yeah, I have Xreas. The only time I ever noticed the Xreas come into play during the install, was that the shocks are attached to the Xreas line, which made it harder to maneuver it. I never saw it being as big of a problem as everyone on here says.

And the rear took me about an hour and a half, including the time it took to put the truck on jack stands, lower/raise it when I needed to sag the sides to pull out the coils, and I also stopped for a while because my girlfriend made me lunch so I went inside for a break. I had her brother push down on the axle for me so that I could go all the way under on my back and slide the coil back on. So you can do it alone, but a 2nd person will be helpful.

My technical know-how is this...It took me an hour to install my front skit plate.

If I didn't have help on the front spacers, I would have been screwed. But the knowledge I learned from doing the front made it possible for me to do the rear 99% on my own. I have a lot of satisfaction knowing I did it myself, not to mention saving $300 for the installation is a plus too. I would do it yourself, but find someone who knows what they are doing to help you. It's definitely a 2 person job for the front.

I just couldn't resist comparing my newly lifted 4runner to the stock one in the parking lot. My girlfriend was in the truck with me when I suddenly pulled into the parking spot and jumped out of the truck. She just shook her head and called me a loser. lol

Nope, It is almost perfectly level. I think the back will sag a bit after everything settles so it should be even more level in about a month.

Like you said, it's probably because the shots are angled. I'll try to take a shot directly from the side in the next few days.

Thanks, appreciate it. And I'm sure that you can tell by my signature, that I have been feeding my mod bug well. I think mine is more of a beast than a bug.

Just needs some nicer tires for better traction, and some black rims. Then my masterpiece will be complete (ish )

Thanks, the only thing that sucks about lifting it is that you get used to it too fast. I always look at it and totally forget how it looked before, unless I park next to another 4th gen. Then I can clearly tell that I lifted it quite a bit. I think the reason for that is it looks so normal with the 2/1 lift, like it should have come that way in the first place.
